Providing Christian Education Since 2005
From Kindergarten Through Grade 12
This is the school’s 20th year of operation with around 360 students enrolled. Oxford Reformed Christian School is parent run and was established in the spring of 2005. The first SchoolBoard, which consisted of members from various Reformed churches, was elected in April 2005.The Board began their work immediately, and within a few months, teachers were hired, and curriculum waschosen. On September 6, 2005, with much joy and thanksgiving, the school opened its doors to 116 students atthe first location in Springford, in the basement of a church, along with several portables. In December of2012, we moved to the new building that we are in today in Mt. Elgin.Since then, a second phase has been added to the east and north wings of the building, providing moreclassrooms. Our enrolment continues to grow. We are currently in the planning and fundraising stages of thenext phase, to add more room classrooms for a growing school, possibly with a separate high school building.
OUR CAMPUS
Our building is spacious, bright, and provides an excellent working environment. The front foyer is a central place that is used so much for many purposes, such as serving our monthly hot lunch, high school choir practice, schoolwork displays, a student lounge, dinners for various events, and so much more.
Students from Kindergarten to Grade 5 are located in the south and north wings, at the front of the school. The Kindergarten classroom is equipped with its own washroom and has a separate entrance to the playground. Also in the north wing are the main office, photocopier and supply room, staff room, and an elementary special education room.
In the east wing are the high school classrooms, including the science and computer labs, and a student study hall. The students enjoy having a tuck shop in this wing, where they can buy snacks and drinks at lunch.
Grades 6 to 8 are at the back of the school in the east wing, giving the higher elementary grades a sneak peak of what it will be like in the high school years ahead. There are a few portables behind the school, being used for some high school classes and special education.
We are thankful for our large 2-court gymnasium, which is well-used by the students each day, and is available for school community events, such as fundraiser dinners, tournaments, and more. The fully equipped and large kitchen is used daily for endless purposes, such as the high school foods classes, fundraisers, the monthly hot lunch, milk program, and for our ORCS Catering service.
